The parks and gardens of the towns are a joy to behold. The spectacular cliff gardens, with views over the Thames Estuary and Kent, are a particular highlight. Priory Park is another of several parks that enable the town to regularly win "Britain in Bloom" awards. There are also wildlife conservation areas to enjoy.

The Air Show, usually conducted over the Spring Bank Holiday, is a particular highlight of Southend's year and attracts half a million people during the weekend. It is Europe's largest free air show!
